In 2021, Romania had record harvests. The country has a long tradition of
cultivating sunflower and soybean.
The sunflower area in 2021 was 1.2 million hectares. With an average yield
of 2.75 T/ha production reached very high levels, amounting to a total of
3.3 million tonnes and exceeding the 2020 harvest by 1.2 million tonnes.
Romania ranks first in the EU with this output, accounting for 34% of the EU
total production.
The soybean area of 164,000 ha, with an average yield of 1.86 T/ha, achieved
total production of 306,000T.
