In Europe (European Union and Ukraine) sales volumes have been increasing
steadily since 2016. Sunflower is now the first crop, followed by potato and
soybean. Significant sales in grain and silage corn in Ukraine are also made.
This growth is expected to continue in 2022 and beyond due to the extension
of use to sunflower and soybean in new European countries and thanks to
the overall strong response to effective commercial and marketing activities.
Moving forward, the next important step in the European Union will be the
renewal of the metobromuron active ingredient registration, foreseen for
2024/25. A reduction of the permitted dose per hectare is likely and work
is currently ongoing to adjust the positioning, which includes identifying
and testing potential tank mix partners for pre-emergence applications and
pre-/post-emergence herbicide programmes.
