Germany is also a key country: the parliament announced that the use of
glyphosate will be stopped at the end of 2023. Some Länder have already
done so. The German rail network and market is one of the biggest in the
EU, equivalent to the French market. Hence, work on registering Belchim’s
specific railway formulation in Germany is underway. Certis Railservices has
the team and the equipment to provide all the services required by the railway
companies. Together, Belchim and Certis are able to offer an integrated
solution including products, spraying and other weed management services.
Since 2019, Certis Railservices has been collaborating with Zasso AG to adapt
their innovative electro-weeding technology to railway applications. The tests
done so far are really promising and currently the project focus is on obtaining
registration of the technology in Germany.
Beyond the two major markets of France and Germany, further developments
are foreseen in other countries of immediate interest: Croatia, Portugal and
Italy, for which a pelargonic acid solution that can be used on railways is
already registered.
In addition, registration of Katoun Gold in railways is expected in the EU
Northern zone countries as of 2022.
