Certis has a wide range of biorational products which match the key market
trends. The damage caused by boxwood moth and the risk to human health
generated by pine and oak processionary caterpillars (rashes, breathing
problems and skin irritation) give an opportunity to the
Bacillus thuringiensis
range from Certis Biologicals (North America). Another opportunity is the
maltodextrin active ingredient which could compete favourably with oils in the
home and garden market. Here, aphids are the main target insects. Business
opportunities are currently being assessed to prioritize the launches and
ensure adequate support for the most promising products, fully leveraging the
complementarity of the Certis portfolio to drive growth in the Home & Garden
and Amenity segments.
The Biocide market is on the rise
This market is broad: it includes disinfectants, preservatives, pest control,
antifouling products, and concerns both professional and amateur users. The
market is increasing year after year. In 2021 it is estimated to have grown by 5%.
Rats are a big concern asmore andmore people aremoving tocities towork. The
population of bed bugs is also expanding because of the internationalization
of travel. Mosquito pressure is also rising due to global warming. Hence, all
segments are growing and offer promising opportunities.
Enclean
®
and Enclean
®
RTU are currently in development against green algae
with first success in UK, Scandinavia, Benelux. The old quaternary ammoniums
still dominate the market because they are cheap and are also used as
disinfectants (which was a key secondary benefit during the recent period
with Covid). Nevertheless, more and more customers are looking for green
solutions with a better profile like the Enclean range. Organic certification was
obtained this year for Enclean in UK via OF&G and has been applied for in the
EU via Ecocert.
