A wetter year meant overall demand for insecticides was weaker in the

region. However, Belchim insecticide sales remained mostly stable,

complemented by increased fungicide sales (+3.8%), and herbicide sales

(+15%).

Belchim’s business in this region experienced an overall growth of 11% in

2021. This was driven by some key product launches – such as Proman in

Italy, Hungary and Romania and 1.4 Sight in Poland, Czech Republic and

Serbia.

These impressive results were also the result of the hard work of the

passionate teams in each country, who continue to find creative solutions

to running the business during COVID times, such as creating a suite of

apps for growers in Italy and holding more than 10 online big events for

customers in Spain.

South & Eastern Europe

"Due to emerging sustainable farming rules and a focus on agrobiodiversity, the

cultivated land with soybean increased in the region. Only preemergent herbicides were

approved, and the Romanian team made the most of this opportunity and doubled the

sales of Proman in 2021, creating big hopes for an even better market share in 2022!"

Commercial Manager Romania, Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova

"We had a great year in Portugal, despite Covid. The team achieved a strong growth in

sales and profitability. We had a positive start with the Shirudo launch and our prospects

for the near future are very positive, given the innovation we will continue to bring to

the market. We are very happy to contribute to the achievement of the company goals."
